Unfortunately, you cannot remove the "forked from" label from a repository on GitHub. It's a permanent link to maintain attribution. The only way to get a "clean" repo without the label is to:
This will break the link to the upstream repo, effectively removing the badge, but it will also detach it from the network graph of the original project. |

Hey @wide-video! 👋 Great news — there are actually two ways to handle this, depending on what you prefer: Option 1: Leave the Fork Network (Recommended — Keeps your history) GitHub now has a built-in option for this:
This will unlink your repository from the Option 2: Start Fresh (Clean slate, no history) If you'd prefer a completely clean repository:
This also removes the fork label, but you'll lose any stars, watchers, or fork network connections. My recommendation: Go with Option 1 — the "Leave fork network" button is exactly what you need here, and it's non-destructive. It was added relatively recently to GitHub's settings, so it's the cleanest solution. Hope that helps! 🙌 |

Hi Github Support, could you please remove "forked from https://github.com/mirror/x264" information from my repository https://github.com/wide-video/x264 . The mirror/x264 repo no longer mirrors the actual original repo https://code.videolan.org/videolan/x264 and I am going to mirror from the original myself. Its just to avoid confusion.
Thank you
